We followed “local legends” in LA looking at food systems and food waste in overlooked an untraditional way — through community activism, education, and art – and put Danone’s Two Good Yogurt at the center of the conversation.
Ep 1: How do you find good food in a food desert? That's the problem that Temu Asyr Martin Bey, an urban farmer, activist, and fellow for the National Young Farmers Coalition, first tried to tackle. Now, Temu is on a mission to bring healthy food to Compton and beyond. With rising food insecurity, Temu is equipping his community with the tools to access and grow and harvest their own healthy, organic food.
Ep 2: Fallen Fruit began in Los Angeles began when artists David Allen Burns & Austin Young saw the fruit from so many untended fruit trees going to waste. What started as a mapping project became a full-blown artistic movement, looking at fruit as not just food, but as art that serves as an avenue through which to make everyone a communal, artistic collaborator and as a commentary on the food we waste every day. We join David & Austin to dive deeper into their world of Fallen Fruit.
Ep 3: Adrienne Wilson was fed up. After 15+ years in the food industry and seeing mountains of wasted food, Adrienne started Feed Our Soul, a restorative organization that connects people with nutrient-rich foods on a daily basis in South LA. We joined Adrienne to see the breadth of her work in South LA, and just what it takes to be the connector.
