East Meets West explores the unique creative expression that emerges when cultures collide.

Episode 1: Koharu Sugawara dreamed of being the world's best dancer. It all started while on a trip to Los Angeles when she was young; exposed to a freedom of expression like never before, LA was a step change from the modest nature of Japanese culture. Almost immediately, Koharu began to adapt this newfound perspective of freedom into her dance, creating an unmistakable style of her own.

Episode 2: After hearing stories about America while growing up, chef Masafumi Miyazaki decided to see the country for himself. "What I experienced there became a turning point in my life," he says. He was inspired by the food he ate Stateside.

After living and dining in the US, he brought his experiences back to open this restaurant, Delight. Chef Masafumi's appreciation for this cultural exchange is evident in the details at Delight: everything from the menu and music being played, to the scenery and environment.

His hope is guests will experience his unique expression through all his restaurant has to offer, and that it will feel unmistakably him—a true mix of cultures.
